Q3 2021 was an exciting one for DuneFront! We continued delivering consulting projects and online training around the world, including for clients in Russia and the USA. We also grew our PackPro client base once again with a new major Operator in Malaysia adopting the software. However, one project stood out this quarter – a multi-well gravel pack design and evaluation project pushing the boundaries of shunted completions.
This was an exciting and challenging project involving gravel packing some of the world’s longest shunted wells in narrow pore-frac pressure margins. We worked closely with our clients to review analogous operations, analyze data from their previous treatments, and calibrate our PackPro model so we could better assess and mitigate the risks in upcoming operations. Given the tight margins, we explored enabling technology and determined that diverter valves were critical to the successful completion of these wells. Since a diverter valve model didn’t exist in the industry, we developed our own and used it with PackPro to provide the client with optimal design recommendations and, ultimately, the confidence that these challenging wells can be successfully completed.
